"Reviving, Renewing, Reclaiming This Millennial Generation"
Bishop E. Malone Porterfield, Sr.
Born out of time For such a time as this
It was apparent at a very young age that E. Malone Porterfield was a prince in the Lord’s church. From praying as a toddler to preaching before he could read, E. Malone Porterfield had the mark of an end-time, latter day prognosticator of the Gospel. His mother knew he needed more than she could give him spiritually, so she let him go live with his grandmother. For this, E. Malone Porterfield is grateful. Mother Gertrude Porterfield was the driving force of holiness in E. Malone Porterfield’s life as he grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. She was the church administrator for Faith Tabernacle Church of God, and it was with her that E. Malone Porterfield began to develop a sense of what he was born to do. He was blessed to sit under and be spiritually birthed by Apostle H. Carmichael, the embodiment of a gospel preacher and apostle in the Lord’s church. Apostle Carmichael produced in E. Malone Porterfield a hunger and thirst for true ministry. It was there that E. Malone Porterfield preached his first sermon on a youth platform service at The Highway Church of Christ in Marion, South Carolina, where Bishop R.F. Davis served as pastor. His message was from Luke 16: 19-31, the text of the Rich Man and Lazarus.
It was in the year 1991 that E. Malone Porterfield was ordained an elder under the hand of the Late Bishop J. Howard Sherman, a servant in the Church of God In Christ. Shortly thereafter, E. Malone Porterfield relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, to sit at the feet of his spiritual Gamaliel, the home and ministry of Apostle Robert and Elect Lady Wahseeola Evans, that ministry became a reality. Under Apostle Evans, E. Malone Porterfield began to develop a heart for integrity in ministry, serving the local church as a musician and minister. He also served on the Convocation Planning Committee for the Beth-El Churches of Christ. E. Malone Porterfield then relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to serve in his family’s church, Ford Memorial Temple, under the leadership of his eldest brother Bishop Andrew J. Ford II.
E. Malone Porterfield then relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and birthed Restoration Tabernacle in the urban section of Sistrunk Boulevard. It was there that evangelism and restoration became a major part of his ministry. The Lord flourished the ministry, and they moved to NW 54th Street in Miami, Florida. There the Lord showed himself mighty, and many souls were saved and restored into the Kingdom of God. In 1998, Pastor Porterfield received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry from the Body of Christ Theological Seminary. After placing the church in the hands of one of its elders, E. Malone Porterfield set out for North Carolina. In the year 2004, E. Malone Porterfield birthed Restoration Tabernacle and the Sunday Night Explosion. The response was so great from the Fayetteville and Sanford area that he relocated the church and experienced exponential growth in ministry. E. Malone Porterfield was also employed as a mental health technician. He was additionally blessed to work with his musical mentor, Lady Becky White, who served at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. While there, Pastor Carl Brinkley adopted him as a spiritual son and sowed great seeds in the ministry of Restoration Tabernacle.
After experiencing great trials, E. Malone Porterfield was prompted by the Lord to take a sabbatical from pastoring. It was one of the hardest decisions he would ever have to make. However, he knew that in order for the fulfillment of who he was to become in God were to come to fruition, there had to be a time of healing. Through many trials and failed situations, the hand of the Lord directed him to Pensacola, Florida.
Jeremiah 18:3 speaks directly to the life and ministry of Pastor Porterfield. He has always been in the hand of the Potter . The Potter saw that he was marred and decided to make him over another vessel as it pleased Him.
